I own greenplastics.com. First, I received the following email:

Dear CEO,
We are the department of registration service in China. we have something need to confirm with you. We formally received an application on November 11, 2008, One company which self-styled "Rope Soft Inc" are applying to register " greenplastics " as internet brand and CN domain names as below :
greenplastics.asia
greenplastics.cn
greenplastics.com.cn
greenplastics.com.hk
greenplastics.com.tw
greenplastics.in
greenplastics.net.cn
greenplastics.org.cn
greenplastics.tw
After our initial examination, we found that the internet brand applied for registration are as same as your company¡¯s name and trademark. These days we are dealing with it, hope to get the affirmation from your company. If your company and this"Rope Soft Inc"as the same company, there is no need reply to us,We will accept their application and will register those for them immediately.
If your company has no relationships with that company nor do not authorized, please reply to us within 7 workdays,if we can't get any information from yours over 7 workdays,we will unconditionally approve the application submitted by "Rope Soft Inc"

I replied, telling them that my company had nothing to do with this "Rope Soft Inc" company. They sent me this response:

Dear Greg,

Many thanks for your confirmation. If your company has no relationship with the"Rope Soft Inc", we conclude that company is your emulant, or "Rope Soft Inc" is most likely to intend preempting registration of Domain names in advance,to speculate and invest in future,Thus their representative in China submitted this application through our body so we can not get in touch with them full-face,this just our conjecture. But as per the open registration principle as"who is the first who is the owner" in China we do not have any right to reject their application. So our duty and incumbency is informing you about this issue as you are the holder of "www.greenplastics.com".

If your company consider those Domains are not important at all and "Rope Soft Inc" register and use those names will not brings any negative effects to your company ,we suggest that there is no need wasting lots of time and energy to process this matter. If your company consider those Domain names are very important to your company and very necessary to be protected that we shall apply the priority of registration for your company and register those Domain names under your company's name.
Nevertheless this need you and your company cooperate with us.

In addition, please inform us your company's decision of this issue. If your company do need to register those Domains in China we will transfer an formal Application Form and fill out finished return to us by Fax or via E-mail. Of course we will esteem your any decision also.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Thank you, domainscams.

We got the same spiel as Yana Kahalani below (word for word, from Leander) and when I replied that we use our brand name all across the world for the last 3 years, this is the reply that I received (upon which I googled his domain and came to this website. Incidentally, I got mine at 9am in the morning GMT which may imply that they use the time difference to catch you when you are half-asleep on a Friday! Got instant replies too): -

Dear xxxxxx O'xxxxxxx,

Many thanks for your prompt reply, If your company has no relationships with the "ZEN Investment Co.,Ltd" but they still need register those Domain names we conclude that company is your emulant familiar with some information about your company, or "ZEN Investment Co.,Ltd" is most likely to intend preempting registration of Domain names in advance, to use in unknown purpose in future. But as per the open registration principle as "who is the first who is the owner" in China we do not have any right to reject their application.
For these domain names and Internet Brand have great realationship with your corporation, and the first registeration right is also belonging to your corp. Please be sure that if your office should protect these brand-names or not.If your office want to protect these,we will do the next step for you,if not,we will do the step as your corp giving up these resources. Thanks
