Our clients have been targeted by these companies on 0870 numbers about registering similar domain names before another person buys them in the same area.

I suggest you consider this company for inclusion on your list.
They called today telling me that their organisation (supposedly a domain name registrar) had received an application from a local guy who wanted to register domains very similar to ours. The implication is that there is a risk to our company unless we step in and pay £800 to register the names before he does. We had about 4 hours to make up our minds whether to do so.
A quick Google search on the phone number above revealed similar stories from others, so I concluded it was a scam

Received a cold call from a representative of NetEasi.com warning me that someone was wanting to register just about every variation of my domain name through them, all for ten years! Presumably they were expecting me to ask them if I could get in first and register them myself, but when I told them I was just a one person outfit running a part-time business they seemed to lose interest.

Seems to be same operation as Corporate Identity Bureau.
Since 13/06/2008 this company has called two separate clients of ours with the same story that a third party wants to register domains containing their brand.
When we telephoned them back it became clear that this is Corporate Identity Bureau by another name - the same personnel work for both organisations and they share the same answering service and are allegedly based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Company called a client approx 2 weeks ago with usual story that a third party was applying to register domains containing the client's brand.
Names of personnel were Emily Turner (Ext 36) the original caller to our client and Kim Watson, the 'legal assistant', allegedly qualifying in 'Internet Law'.
CIB is allegedly based at 50 Heaton Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE6 1SE. Note this company uses same telephone number and personnel as Net Easi which engages in the same practices.

I was phoned on May 20 by a woman calling herself Amy Jarvis from above company saying that someone else had approached them to use very similar names as my site (www.colourphil.co.uk) and business (Graphic Quality Consultancy) but with .com and for 10 years and was paying £1500 for this. She did not push for me to pay, which was unusual. Their domain name was only registered this month! Also their site has no address!! I have reported this to Trading Standards but have heard nothing.

My chief executive was approached by a company called Net Easy who stated, out of courtesy, that they were in receipt of a request for 15 web domains which matched our business. We were subesequently offered teh price of £1500 to gazump the individual. Louise Johnston was the name and 0870 067 1656 was the number which is premium rate. I cannot find a company in the UK called NetEasy so googled domain scam and received your listing. Can you confirm, as we suspect, that this is a scam?

It was almost identical to the discription you gave; a person named Natasha called advising us that someone was trying to buy up all the different variations of our domain name and for £1200.00 we could buy them up instead, alarm bells rang so I looked up domain scams and found your website

This is another company calling up to say that someone is trying to register domains very similar to your own. They then give you the chance to register these domains. Tried to get us to pay £1200!
Their terms are identical to http://www.new-designsolutions.com/
Their domain was only registered on 11th April 2008 and the registrant claims to be Paul Marshall. The person that rang me gave her name as Stella. If any of that is true, this might be unconnected but there was a Stella Marshall who used to be a director of a company called EasyWebMedia which was dormant but had county court judgements against it. Might be linked...

We were telephoned by Louise Johnson from NetEasy. She reported that an undisclosed person was trying to register 15 variations of our domain name, with the intention to point them to their own site. NetEasy were dropping us a courtesy call to inform us of this information. Although it was never explicitly offered to us, she made it clear that the undisclosed person planned to buy the 15 domains for 10 years for £1,500, but hadn?t done so yet. Clearly inviting us to buy them up first.
